Following the exit of Peter Obi from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a group, Democratic Forum for Justice and Equity (DFJE) said it regrets supporting the candidate.
Obi had on Wednesday shocked the whole nation when he resigned his membership of the PDP two days before the presidential primary election of the party scheduled to hold on Saturday.
Although there are speculations that the former Governor of Anambra State may join the Labour Party to realise his ambition, speculations are also rife that he may join the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) led by the former Governor of Kano State and a presidential aspirant of the party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate.
However, the pro-Obi group in a statement issued on Friday by its National Coordinator, Malam Isah Ajilete, said it regretted supporting the former governor of Anambra State in the first place and has now withdrawn its loyalties.
The group noted that it was on the basis of equity and fairness for the Southeast that it initially declared support for Obi.
It said: “We have withdrawn our support for Peter Obi, having realised that he is an unstable politician who has taken his desperation to a selfish level. We made bold to say that we regretted ever supporting Peter Obi in the first place and we have since shifted our loyalty to a stable politician.
