The State headquarters of the Property Agents and Landlords Association of Nigeria, (PALDAN), has been sealed off by the Operatives of the Yobe State Geographic Information Service, (YOGIS) over failure to obtain an operational license.
The operation was led by YOGIS Director-General, Dr. Abdullahi Hassan Gana.
Usman Ibrahim Geidam, Special Assistant on Media to the Director-General disclosed this in a statement made available to reporters on Wednesday in Damaturu.
The statement noted that Section 4, Sub-Section 2 (j), of the law that established YOGIS clearly stated that the agency is authorized by law to approve and register all land vendors operating in Yobe State.
“You may recall that YOGIS, through the agency’s liaison officer, had sent letters twice to the vendors’ office that 20/06/2022 remained the deadline to register and obtain an operational license.
“In view of the above, YOGIS decided to officially shut down all operations of PALDAN across Yobe State with immediate effect, following non compliance”, he said.
The statement also warned that any unauthorized or unregistered land vendor caught in any land transaction would face the full wrath of the law.
The YOGIS Director-General issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the leadership of PALDAN to come and have a final discussion on the way forward.
“We are not acting in a bad faith against any individual(s). Our goal is to ensure compliance with the law and also to further improve land administration in the State for the benefit of all citizens”, the DG said.
