Nduka Ugbade, Golden Eaglets’ head coach, has said that his players are ready for Tuesday’s (today) semi-final clash against Cote d’Ivoire at the WAFU B U-17 Championship.
Ugbade’s boys have impressed at the competition, winning their two group games against hosts Ghana and Togo in convincing fashion.
The Ivorians barely made it to this stage of the competition, with just one win in Group B.
Aside from a place in the final, at stake is the ticket to the 2023 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Algeria and Ugbade has challenged his players to give their best against their fellow West Africans.
“The match against Cote d’Ivoire is of high importance to us. In fact, I have reminded the players that this one is the biggest match of their lives,” Ugbade told nff.com.
“They must win to secure a ticket to the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, and from there to the U17 World Cup, and from there to several opportunities and possibilities.
“Whatever we have done here (beating Ghana and Togo) will not mean much if we don’t go all out and grab our ticket to the AFCON and to the Final. We will throw everything into the fray.”
The encounter at the Cape Coast Stadium will kick off at 4 pm Nigerian time.
