Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Danbaba, Leaves PDP for APC

The Deputy Speaker of the Senate, Ibrahim Danbaba, has left the People Democratic Party, PDP, from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

These developments were referred to a book read in the Senate by the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, during the meeting.

The lawyer, representing Sokoto South in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, was appointed by the PDP on July 15, 2021, to replace the Deputy Chief Whip.

The appointment follows the rebellion of former Deputy Chief Whip, Sahabi Alhaji Ya’u, who represents Zamfara North from the PDP to the ruling party.

Mr Danbaba’s revolt in the party, brings the total number of APC senators in the upper chamber to 71, while the PDP is 37.
