Alfred Dabwam has won the ticket for the New Nigeria Peoples Party Plateau governorship position for the 2023 general elections.
In the primary election held in Jos, 124 delegates unanimously affirmed Mr Dabwam as the sole candidate in the presence of INEC officials, security personnel and supporters of the party.
Chairman of NNPP governorship electoral committee, Raymond Ibrahim who declared Mr Dabwan as candidate, said the aspirant scored all the 124 votes cast by the delegates.
“By the powers vested on me as the electoral chairman committee, I hereby declare Alfred Dabwan as the candidate of NNPP in Plateau,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Dabwam stated that as a trained security expert, he would use technology to ensure that the people of the state sleep with their two eyes closed and attract investors to the state.
”I have a vision to take Plateau to a place it ought to be among states in Nigeria. Security will be my topmost priority, if elected governor. By the grace of God, we have the vision to tackle insecurity particularly in our rural areas,” he said.
He promised to partner an American company to generate 500 megawatts of electricity for the state.
Mr Dabwan further said agriculture and mining would be on the first-line charge of his administration.
Earlier, the Plateau NNPP chairman, Tokji Mandim, said six aspirants indicated interest in the governorship ticket but five of them did not pass the party’s screening.
