Unknown gunmen and hoodlums have attacked the Idemili North Local Government Area headquarters in Ogidi, Anambra State, raiding the place and setting the court ablaze early Monday morning.
The police command in Anambra has confirmed this in a statement.
The Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga said the attack on the council headquarters was carried out around 2am.
Mr Ikenga added that security operatives were drafted to the area and firefighters, who quickly put out the fire and restored normalcy in the area.
“As we speak, security operatives are still over the incident, and we have put the place under control,” said the police officer. “I must add that the natives were helpful to contend with the attack as some of them joined security operatives to repel the attackers.”

Meanwhile, a source disclosed that the arsonists burnt down buildings within the complex, including the magistrate’s court building and office of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company.
He also mentioned that operational vehicles parked on the premises were destroyed.
However, he said no casualty was recorded during the attack.
