APC Considers Consensus Governorship Candidate In Benue

Benue State APC is considering a consensus candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections with more than 32 candidates vying for the party’s leadership.

On Tuesday, George Akume, the Minister for Special Affairs and Government Affairs, met with them at a retreat in Abuja.

The former governor of Benue noted that the consensus was in line with the party’s constitutional provisions.

However, Akume said those who wanted to run in the by-elections were free to check their primaries.

“There is provision for consensus in our constitution and of course, in the Electoral Act; consensus arrangement is wonderful”, he noted.

The APC leader in the province has assured that the party will not force any of its candidates.

Akume advised those who hoped for leadership to put aside their differences and work for victory in 2023.
