250 Women Seeking PDP Get 2023 Election Forms

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national leader Stella Effah-Attoe stated that 250 women candidates purchased the Expression of Interest party forms ahead of 2023.

Ms Effah-Attoe revealed this on Monday during a meeting with some aspiring candidates at the organisation’s Wadata Plaza national headquarters.

She urged women to aim to win elections and not just participate in this process. The PDP’s female leader added that her office was already working with party leaders and stakeholders to ensure that a fair number of women who wanted to run in the election appeared as candidates.

Ms Effah-Attoe advised candidates to prepare well for the first election so as not to blame the party over time.

“Some of us don’t even relate with our wards, not to talk about our local government chapters, and when the bell rings to buy the forms, we just run and pick the forms,” the PDP chieftain pointed out. “Politics is not practised that way; you have to prepare yourself, especially for the primary.”

The national women’s leader said the meeting was to discuss how more women could come together as primary candidates.

“I desire to leave no stone unturned to ensure that our women participate meaningfully and win elections. We have always thought about women coming out to participate,” she further explained. “We have been doing that over the years we have been participating, but the issue now is coming out to win elections. This kind of meeting is unprecedented.”

Ms Effah-Attoe also said the conference was aimed at improving the ways and means of women who want to enter the industry as they go into the field.

Former national PDP leader and former women’s affairs minister Josephine Anenih has advised candidates to run for office in order to win or run in the 2023 elections.
