President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the resignation of all political appointees seeking elective positions in 2023.
The president also stated that resignation must be made before Monday, May 16 2022.
A number of ministers and aides to the president, including Attorney-General Abubakar Malami and Rotimi Amaechi, are currently seeking political office in the upcoming general elections.
The president issued the order despite a Court of Appeal ruling allowing nominees to stay in office for up to 30 days before the general election, scheduled for February 2023.
