Cosmos Ndukwe, PDP Presidential aspirant has justified his lawsuit against the party.
This came against the outcome of the just-concluded National Convention/presidential primary election of the PDP, held at the weekend in Abuja, wherein an ex-Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, defeated Senator Bukola Saraki and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, to emerge as flagbearer in the 2023 presidential election in the country.
Ndukwe had approached Justice Donatus Okorowo-led Federal High Court in Abuja for an application for an order of injunction restraining the PDP from proceeding with the primary election pending the hearing and determination of his suit challenging the position of the party on the issue of zoning its presidential ticket.
The National Chairman of PDP, Dr Iyorchia Atu, Senator Samuel Anyanwu and the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) as first to fourth respondents respectively.
However, while reacting to Atiku’s emergence as PDP presidential flagbearer, on Monday, Hon Cosmos Ndukwe, who was also a former Deputy Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, posited that the outcome of the concluded party exercise has vindicated him and as well as justified his lawsuit over the party’s position on zoning.
He queried, “with northwest alone having 194 delegates, how can we ever have a southerner on seat as PDP candidate we are setting wrong precedents?
“North Central was considered during National Working Committee (NWC) election zoning. National Chairman, Ayu Iyorcha is a product of zoning.
“I have never lost, i am not a loser and have never been a failed manager!
“It’s either I win or I learn. It’s either I win or gain. Let’s see how it goes, what happened yesterday and the dollar rain is the much reason why I am in court”, Ndukwe concluded.
