There has been a rejection of the five names that were submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari to select a consensus candidate.
This rejection was done by Seven presidential aspirants contesting under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
This presidential aspirant insisted that nobody called for them before arriving at their decision.
The aggrieved aspirants made this claim in a terse statement issued in the early hours of Tuesday.
The aspirants include: Governor of Cross River, Ben Ayade; Ex-Minister for state for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba; Ex-Minister for science and technology, Ogbonnaya Onu; former governor Rochas Okorocha and businessman Tein Jack-Rich.
According to them, Buhari did not equivocally support zoning the presidency to the South and questioned the motive of the Governors.
Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State on Tuesday hinted at the All Progressives Congress, APC, producing a consensus candidate during the party’s presidential primary in Abuja.
Uzodinma, who is the Chairman of the APC Special Convention, said the party may produce a consensus presidential candidate at the end of today.
The governor said the party would conduct a free and fair election if consensus fails.
As the All Progressives Congress, APC, commences its Special convention, an All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential aspirant, Yahaya Bello, has disclosed what he would do if President Muhammadu Buhari asked him to step down.
Bello disclosed that he would obey if the president asked him to step down from the presidential race.
The Kogi State governor disclosed this while addressing State House Correspondents after a closed-door meeting with Buhari at the Presidential Villa.
He, however, noted that the president did not ask any one of the presidential aspirants to step down.
According to Bello: “I respect President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the leader of our party, and I respect APC. If the president asks me to step down, I will do; only Mr President can ask me to step down.
“Mr president did not ask anyone to step down; he only said the delegates should decide who becomes the flag bearer of our party, and he did not say anyone should be excluded.”

Loyalists of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu have warned the party against bias.
On Tuesday, scores of them protested at the International Conference Center (ICC), Abuja.
They accused the APC leadership of replacing the names of a number of delegates.
Prominent among the supporters was Segun Dada, who sought to become the national youth leader at the March convention.
The delegates substituted are believed to be party members backing the ambition of the former Lagos Governor.
Tinubu faces a major battle as his opponents within the APC are reportedly working for a “younger aspirant”.
The presidential primary election at Eagle Square in Abuja is underway with the accreditation of delegates.
